The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who begets a wise child will delight in him. Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her who bore you rejoice. (Proverbs 23:24-25)
The Righteous Father And The Wise Child
Young people that are righteous are not born that way; they learn how to live virtuous lives from the teaching and example of their father. From early childhood they have instilled in them to love God with all their heart, souls and mind. It is not so much they know God but they learn to trust Him in every part of their lives. Serving the Lord is a passion of their lives. Putting Him first in their thinking, speech, manner of dress, attitude and demeanor is a valuable lesson given to them by a righteous father. Teaching the eternal lessons of what is right and wrong comes from the voice of the man who leads the home guiding with the word of God as the compass. Parents who are glad and rejoice in the life of their children are those who have worked diligently to fill the hearts of their family with a devotion to God. The principles of righteousness always guide the home. Children see the example of their parents living with Christ in their hearts and they grow up emulating these same principles.
The key to wise children lies in the wisdom of the fathers who follow a path of righteousness. They lay the groundwork of a stable life for the child to live in wisdom. Fathers who train their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord will have much to rejoice as their children walk in the truth. Homes filled with the love of God will see that love expressed in the homes their children as they build upon the righteous foundations of God’s word. Children have a tendency to grow up to be a lot like their parents regardless of the effort to dissuade from doing so. This is a positive thing when the father is filled with the wisdom of God. There will be great delight in the home of the righteous.
Establishing a home of righteousness is a concerted effort with laborious energies focused on one single theme: helping the family go to Heaven. It is not an easy task and not for the fainthearted. Beginning with the leadership of the home, the father sets the standards of truth and righteousness for the family to follow. His leadership is guiding the home with knowledge of the word of God and willingness to trust in the will of the Lord to be the light for the family. Worship is not a casual event that happens infrequently three times a week but the essential part of the daily activities of the home. Rejoicing fathers instill in their children heart changing messages of hope. The center of the home is a relationship with the Lord. Children are happier when they love the Lord. It goes with the territory.
